Somehow my post, June 1942, June 1944 get misplaced and the title ended up on a wholly unrelated post. I don’t know how that happened. My post about June went away, at least I can’t find it.
In any case, in watching the coverage of the ceremonies this morning in France I’m struck by a couple of things.
I wonder how and if I could have had the courage to what needed to be done when I was 20 years old. The setting for the ceremony was grand and gracious and filled with a serious pomp and reverence that befits the commemoration.
Finally, today, this day and this event is not about any of us who are the beneficiaries of what those men, our fathers and grandfathers did. Today is about all of them.
