Twain did mention how an Arctic ship’s captain once told him it was so cold the first mate’s shadow froze to the deck and had to be ripped loose. And then they only got about two thirds of it back.
It’s cold, it’s very sunny, it’s January. Not much natural melting going on today. At these temperatures even the road salt and brine gives up.
